Hans “Kit” Hudson, has passed away

Longtime club member, friend to many, Hans “Kit” Hudson, has passed away. Kit leaves a legacy of other Hudson family members who have also been a part of the club for many years. Kit not only enjoyed diving with the club but served as it’s Treasurer and Newsletter Editor over the years. His daughter Kim has shared his obituary information for those who wish to honor him.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Military Honors will be at Rose Crest Cemetery following the Memorial Service. George Fleischmann, Jr., longtime member has passed away

Many of our club members have fond memories of George Fleischmann as a diver, friend, and fierce advocate for the Bluegrass Dive Club. George was instrumental in the creation of the strong infrastructure, financial stability and recordkeeping that have allowed our club to thrive for 50 plus years.

Update on Roatan – Anthony’s Key Resort dive trip

As of 5/1/2023 we have 8 divers signed up for the Roatan – Anthony’s Key Resort dive trip scheduled 8/26 – 9/2/2023. There are still plenty of bungalows available at the time of this writing.

12 Key Superior bungalows
9 Key Deluxe bungalows

If you want to know more about Anthony’s Key Resort our program at the May 9th club meeting will be all about what Anthony’s Key Resort. AKR has updated their restaurant and lobby offerings since the last time I have visited, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Anthony’s Key Resort, Roatan, Honduras club dive trip – 8/26 to 9/2/2023

The Bluegrass Dive Club has a dive trip and is returning to Anthony’s Key Resort on the island of Roatan, Honduras. The club last visited this resort and Roatan in September of 2015. There have been several club members and friends of the late Doug Geddes who made trips to Roatan since 2015 to visit Doug and Susan in their retirement home and enjoy their hospitality and let them share their diver’s paradise. The club plans to dive on the Doug Geddes memorial dive site, Doug’s Dream during this trip. New at AKR since 2015, AKR Ankor Seafood Grill on the waterfront.

Michael J. McCann passed away October 20, 2022

Longtime friend and member of the Bluegrass Dive Club, Michael J. McCann passed away October 20, 2022. Michael brought the BGDC forward in its journey to more effectively communicate with its members and the dive community with the creation and introduction of the club’s website, online and email group email communication, and with online club trip registrations and membership. These are but some of the club centered accomplishments. Michael and Sherry were active in the club, its activities, fellowship, and its travel.

Michael’s family shared the following:
Friends and family: our beloved patriarch and my amazing father Michael J McCann passed away this morning peacefully after a short battle with lung cancer which had spread to his brain. We became aware of the tumors last Friday and were in shock as the day before he had been with his doctor and had been declared cancer free. He spent the last few days surrounded by his loving wife SherryJones McCann and his children and grand children.
